Adhyāya 241: Guṇa-sṛṣṭi, Kṣetrajña-sākṣitva, and Śama through Ātma-jñāna (गुणसृष्टिः, क्षेत्रज्ञसाक्षित्वं, शमः)
यत्र तद् ब्रह्म परममव्यक्तमचलं ध्रुवम् । अव्याकृतमनायासमव्यक्तं चावियोगि च,“जहाँ बिना क्लेशके प्राप्त होनेवाले और मिलकर कभी विलग न होनेवाले, अव्यक्त, अचल, नित्य, अनिर्वचनीय तथा विकारशून्य उस परब्रह्म परमात्माका साक्षात्कार हो जाता है
yatra tad brahma paramam avyaktam acalaṃ dhruvam | avyākṛtam anāyāsam avyaktaṃ cāviyogi ca ||
قال بهيشما: «هناك يُدرك المرءُ البراهمانَ الأعلى—غيرَ المتجلّي، الثابتَ الذي لا يتحرّك، الدائمَ—متجاوزًا كلَّ تبدّلٍ ومتجاوزًا تمامَ البيان بالقول؛ يُنال بلا عناء، وإذا نيلَ فلا انفصالَ بعده.»
भीष्म उवाच
The verse points to liberation through direct realization of the Supreme Brahman, described as unmanifest, changeless, and eternal—attainable without inner strain when one is properly established in the path, and irreversible in the sense that true realization is not lost by ordinary fluctuations.
In the Shanti Parva’s instruction on dharma and liberation, Bhishma continues his discourse to Yudhishthira, characterizing the ultimate goal (Brahman-realization) and its defining marks: unmanifestness, immovability, permanence, freedom from modification, and inseparability once attained.
