Vānaprastha-vṛtti and the Transition toward the Fourth Āśrama (वानप्रस्थवृत्तिः चतुर्थाश्रमोपक्रमश्च)

ज्ञानेन यच्छेदात्मानं य इच्छेच्छान्तिमात्मन: । जो उत्तम ज्ञान प्राप्त करना चाहता हो, उसे बुद्धिके द्वारा मन और वाणीको जीतना चाहिये तथा जो अपने लिये शान्ति चाहे, उसे ज्ञानद्वारा बुद्धिको परमात्मामें नियन्त्रित करना चाहिये

jñānena yacched ātmānaṃ ya icchec chāntim ātmanaḥ |

قال فياسا: ليكبح الإنسانُ نفسَه بالمعرفة. ومن يبتغي السكينةَ الباطنة فليُخضع—بقوة الفهم الحق—العقلَ المميِّز (buddhi) لسلطان الذات العليا؛ فيغلب بذلك الفكرَ والقول، وتستقرّ حياته الداخلية في الطمأنينة.
