The world’s course is propelled by an immense, irresistible power aligned with cosmic ordinance (vidhi), and beings are carried along by the stream of their own inherent nature (svabhāva). This frames ethical reflection: one should act with dharma-awareness within the larger order rather than imagining absolute control over outcomes.
Vyāsa is explaining a philosophical point in the Śānti discourse: the unfolding of worldly events is continuous and forceful, driven by an overarching ordained power and by the natural tendencies of beings, so the world keeps moving like a current that cannot be easily checked.
