nāmatheyāni carṣīṇāṃ yāśva vedeṣu sṛṣṭayaḥ
The verse points to the Vedas as the authoritative source for understanding the recognized names and lineages/creations associated with the ṛṣis, emphasizing fidelity to śruti (revealed tradition) when speaking about sacred origins and designations.
Vyāsa continues an explanatory discourse in which he references Vedic testimony—specifically, that the seers’ appellations and the accounts of ‘creations’ (sṛṣṭis) are established in the Vedas—thereby grounding the discussion in scriptural precedent.
