The Dialogue of Śrī
Lakṣmī) and Śakra (Indra
yo dvijaḥ kevalaṁ ṛtusnāna-kāle eva patnyā saha samāgamaṁ karoti, sadā satyaṁ vadati ca nityaṁ jñāne sthitaḥ bhavati, sa sadā brahmacārī eva bhavati
Brahmacarya is presented as disciplined living: regulated conjugal conduct (only at the proper season), unwavering truthfulness, and steady establishment in knowledge. Such integrated restraint and integrity make one 'ever a brahmacārī' even within household life.
In Śānti Parva, Bhīṣma instructs on dharma and right conduct. Here he defines a standard of self-restraint and ethical speech for a dvija, showing how inner discipline and regulated sexuality align with dharma.
