Vimokṣa-niścaya: Pañcaśikha’s Analysis of Aggregates, Guṇas, and Tyāga (मोक्षनिर्णयः)

Educational Q&A

Do not pursue sense-objects out of attachment; craving triggers a chain of emotional upheavals—elation, anger, and dejection—each feeding the next, which destabilizes judgment and leads one away from dharma and one’s true welfare.

In the Shanti Parva’s instruction section, Bhishma is advising Yudhishthira on righteous living and inner discipline. Here he explains how indulgence driven by attachment produces interlinked emotional states that undermine ethical conduct.
