Educational Q&A

The verse frames ācāra (ethical conduct and disciplined practice) as a formal subject of dharma to be learned through authoritative instruction, emphasizing reverence for a qualified teacher and the importance of correct procedure (vidhi) in living righteously.

In the Śānti Parva dialogue, Yudhiṣṭhira respectfully turns to Bhīṣma and requests a systematic explanation of the rules of good conduct, acknowledging Bhīṣma’s mastery of dharma as the basis for guidance.
