वधबन्धपरिकक्लेशै: क्लिश्यन्ते च पुनः पुन: । ते खल्वपि रमन्ते च मोदन्ते च हसन्ति च
vadhabandhaparikleśaiḥ kliśyante ca punaḥ punaḥ | te khalv api ramante ca modante ca hasanti ca |
قال بهيشما: «إن كثيرًا من الناس يُبتلون مرارًا بآلام القتل والأسر؛ ومع ذلك فهم أيضًا لا يتركون الحياة. بل يظلون يتلاعبون فيما بينهم، ويفرحون ويضحكون—دلالةً على أن الصبر وإرادة البقاء يثبتان حتى وسط الشدائد المتكررة.»
भीष्म उवाच
Even those who repeatedly face extreme pains such as violence and imprisonment still continue living and find moments of joy; therefore one should cultivate endurance (titikṣā) and not succumb to despair when afflicted by suffering.
In the Shanti Parva discourse, Bhishma is instructing Yudhishthira on conduct and inner strength; here he points to ordinary human resilience—people endure recurring calamities yet still engage in play, happiness, and laughter.
