Doctrine of Creation from the Unmanifest ‘Mānasa’
किंचिदेव ममत्वेन यदा भवति कल्पितम् । तदेव परितापार्थ सर्व सम्पद्यते तथा,मनुष्य जब किसी भी पदार्थमें ममत्व कर लेता है, तब वे ही सब उसके वैसे दुःखके कारण बन जाते हैं
kiñcid eva mamatvena yadā bhavati kalpitam | tad eva paritāpārthaṁ sarvaṁ sampadyate tathā ||
قال البراهمن: إذا توهّم الإنسانُ—بدافع التعلّق التملّكي—أن شيئًا ولو يسيرًا هو «لي»، فإن ذلك الشيء بعينه—بل وكل ما يتصل به—يصير لا محالة سببًا للعذاب والحزن.
ब्राह्मण उवाच
Suffering is generated by mamatā—mentally claiming things as ‘mine.’ Even slight possessiveness turns objects and relationships into sources of anxiety, grief, and torment; reducing attachment reduces distress.
In the Śānti Parva’s didactic setting, a Brahmin speaker delivers a reflective instruction on the roots of sorrow, explaining that the mind’s construction of ownership (kalpanā of ‘mine’) is what converts ordinary things into causes of pain.
