Ajagara-vrata (The ‘Python’ Discipline): Prahrāda Questions a Wandering Sage
स चाद्य दिवस: पुण्यो हतिथिश्चायमागतः । संकल्पितं चैव धनं कि विचार्यमत: परम्
sa cādya divasaḥ puṇyo hatithiścāyam āgataḥ | saṅkalpitaṃ caiva dhanaṃ ki vicāryamataḥ param ||
قال بهيشما: «هذا يومٌ مبارك، وقد حلّت التِّثي القمرية الملائمة. وقد عُيِّن المال بنيةٍ سابقة ووُضع جانبًا؛ فماذا بقي بعد ذلك للتفكّر والتردّد؟»
भीष्म उवाच
Once an act of dharma—especially giving—has been rightly intended (saṅkalpa) and the proper occasion has arrived, excessive hesitation and over-deliberation are discouraged; one should proceed with firm resolve.
Bhīṣma indicates that the present day and lunar date are auspicious and timely, and that the intended wealth/gift has already been decided upon; therefore he urges moving forward rather than continuing to debate.
