Śānti-parva 168: Śoka-nivṛtti-buddhi (The Cognition that Reduces Grief) and Piṅgalā’s Nairāśya

नास्ति नासीन्नाभविष्यद्‌ भूतं कामात्मकात्‌ परम्‌ | एतत्‌ सारं महाराज धर्मार्थावत्र संस्थितौ

أيها الملك العظيم! لا يوجد، ولم يوجد قط، ولن يوجد في المستقبل كائنٌ حيّ يتجاوز طبيعة الكاما (الرغبة). فالكاما هي لبُّ الأهداف الثلاثة. أيها المَهاراجا! حتى الدارما والأرثا قائمان فيها ومستقرّان بها.
