Ignorance and childish confidence fail to grasp the real force of causes—here symbolized by the Wind’s wrath. Wisdom lies in understanding how powerful agencies (nature, fate, or moral law) can suddenly overwhelm those who are unprepared.
Bhīṣma contrasts the naïveté of “the childish” with his own informed understanding, using the image of Vāyu (the Wind) becoming angry and violently driving beings about, to stress that they do not comprehend the danger while he does.
