कुलशोभाकर ं मूढा: पुत्र॑ त्यक्त्वा क्व यास्यथ । रूपयौवनसम्पन्नं द्योतमानमिव श्रिया,यह सुन्दर बालक तुम्हारे कुलकी शोभा बढ़ानेवाला है। यह रूप और यौवनसे सम्पन्न है तथा अपनी कान्तिसे प्रकाशित हो रहा है। मूर्खो! इस पुत्रको पृथ्वीपर डालकर तुम कहाँ जाओगे?

kulaśobhākaraṃ mūḍhāḥ putraṃ tyaktvā kva yāsyatha | rūpayauvanasampannaṃ dyotamānam iva śriyā ||

قال جامبوكا: «يا حمقى! بعد أن نبذتم هذا الابن—زينة سلالتكم—إلى أين تذهبون؟ قد جُبل على الجمال والشباب، وهو يلمع كأنما أنارته النعمة ذاتها.»
