The verse highlights dharmic etiquette: even when seeking simple shelter, one approaches with humility, reverence, and restrained speech—treating nature (here, a tree) as worthy of respect rather than as a mere object for use.
A female figure (implied by the grammar) decides to spend the night at a particular tree described as steadfast/wise. She joins her palms, bows, and then speaks to the tree, as if requesting permission or offering respectful address before taking shelter.
