कालो हेतुं विकुरुते स्वार्थस्तमनुवर्तते
kālo hetuṁ vikurute svārthas tam anuvartate |
قال بهيشما: «إنّ الزمان يُبدّل حتى صورة الأسباب والدوافع؛ والمصلحةُ الذاتية تظلّ تتبع ذلك الزمان المتحوّل. والحكيمُ يُبصر هذه المصلحة بجلاء، أمّا عامة الناس فلا يفعلون إلا أن يسيروا خلف الحكيم. لذلك، ما دمتُ أفهم مصلحتك حقّ الفهم، فلا ينبغي لك أن تخاطبني على هذا النحو.»
