को दण्ड: कीदृशो दण्ड: किंरूप: किंपरायण: । किमात्मक: कथंभूत: कथंमूर्ति: कथ॑ं प्रभो,दण्ड क्या है? कैसा है? उसका स्वरूप किस तरहका है? और किसके आधारपर उसकी स्थिति है? प्रभो! उसका उपादान क्या है? उसकी उत्पत्ति कैसे हुई है? उसका आकार कैसा है?
ko daṇḍaḥ kīdṛśo daṇḍaḥ kiṃrūpaḥ kiṃparāyaṇaḥ | kimātmakaḥ kathaṃbhūtaḥ kathaṃmūrtiḥ kathaṃ prabho ||
وسأل يودهيشثيرا: «ما الدَنْدَا؟ وكيف طبيعته؟ وأيَّ صورةٍ يتخذ، وعلى أيِّ أساسٍ نهائيٍّ يقوم؟ يا مولاي، ممَّ يتكوَّن، وكيف نشأ، وأيَّ هيئةٍ أو تجسّدٍ يتلبّس؟»
