samudroḍayaṁ tava vaśe bhaviṣyati nadīpatiḥ | somena sārtha ca tava hānivṛddhī bhaviṣyataḥ ||
The verse frames sovereignty as mastery over fluctuation: even forces that naturally wax and wane—tides and the Moon’s cycles, symbolic of gain and loss—are presented as subject to disciplined control, implying steadiness amid changing fortune.
Vaiśampāyana reports a prophetic assurance or blessing addressed to a person of power: the ocean’s tides and the alternating conditions of prosperity and decline (linked with Soma’s waxing and waning) are declared to be under that person’s command.
