Educational Q&A

The verse underscores the moral-cosmic principle that a sage’s truthful utterance and a rishi’s curse are not mere words but forces that unfold as reality; actions and speech aligned with spiritual authority carry inevitable consequences.

Vaiśaṃpāyana reports that events occurred exactly as a brahmavādin sage had foretold: certain beings returned as they came, and Agni, due to Bhṛgu’s curse, became ‘all-devouring’; additionally, a wise figure is said to have plunged in and proceeded to the ‘brahmayoni,’ the primordial source.
