Kapālamocana-tīrtha (Auśanasa) and Balarāma’s Sarasvatī Pilgrimage

tapasvino dharmapathe sthitasya dvijasattama | “dharmajña brāhmaṇa! āpa kisaliye nṛtya kara rahe haiṃ? mune! āpake liye adhika harṣakā kaun-sā kāraṇa upasthita ho gayā hai? dvijaśreṣṭha! āpa to tapasvī haiṃ, sadā dharmake mārgapar sthita rahate haiṃ, phira āpa kyoṃ harṣase unmatt ho rahe haiṃ?”

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical expectation that a tapasvī and dharma-jña brāhmaṇa remains steady and self-controlled; sudden exuberant behavior invites scrutiny, implying that even joy should be aligned with dharma and inner discipline.

Vaiśaṃpāyana describes someone addressing an ascetic brāhmaṇa-sage who is unexpectedly dancing in great joy, asking what remarkable event has caused such delight despite his usual dharmic steadiness.
