sañjaya uvāca | praviṣṭo hāstinapuraṃ bāṣpakaṇṭho 'śrulocanaḥ | sūrye 'staṃ hote-hote netrābhyām aśrūṇi muñcan sa taiḥ sarvaiḥ saha hāstinapuraṃ praviśat | tadā tasya kaṇṭhaḥ pūrṇa ivābhavat |
قال سنجيا: دخل هاسْتِينابورا مع الآخرين وحلقه مخنوق بالنشيج وعيناه مبللتان بالدموع. ومع غروب الشمس كانت الدموع لا تزال تنهمر من عينيه؛ وفي تلك اللحظة خانَه صوته، إذ غمره الحزن وثقلُ ما جرى من عبءٍ أخلاقي.
