Śālva’s Elephant Assault and the Counterstroke (शाल्वस्य नागारूढाभ्यवहारः)
dṛṣṭvā tu kauravaṃ sainyaṃ bhayatrastaṃ pravidrutam | anyonyaṃ samabhāṣanta pāñcālāḥ pāṇḍavaiḥ saha ||

The verse highlights how fear and loss of resolve can unravel even a large force; in dharmic warfare, inner steadiness and righteous confidence often determine outcomes as much as weapons and numbers.
Sañjaya reports that the Kaurava army, struck by fear, is fleeing; witnessing this, the Pāñcāla warriors along with the Pāṇḍavas begin discussing the situation among themselves.
