Vaiśampāyana uvāca: evaṁ vilapatīṁ Kuntīm abhivādya praṇamya ca | Pāṇḍavā vigatānandā vanāyaiva pravavrajuḥ ||
Even in extreme injustice and sorrow, one should not abandon basic dharmic conduct—here, the Pāṇḍavas maintain reverence toward their mother and accept the burdensome path of exile with restraint rather than retaliatory impulsiveness.
After Kuntī laments, the Pāṇḍavas respectfully salute and bow to her, then leave—sad and joyless—for the forest, marking the transition from courtly life to exile following the events in the assembly.
