Nārada’s Prelude to Describing the Divine Assemblies
evam uktaḥ pāṇḍavena nāradaḥ pratyabhāṣata | krameṇa rājan divyās tāḥ śrūyantām iha naḥ sabhāḥ ||
The verse emphasizes disciplined transmission of knowledge: a wise speaker responds methodically (krameṇa), and a ruler should listen attentively. It models ethical communication—ordered instruction, respectful address, and readiness to learn.
After Yudhiṣṭhira (the Pāṇḍava king) asks a question, the sage Nārada begins his reply, announcing that he will describe, in sequence, the various divine assembly-halls.
