Escalation of Wagers and Shakuni’s Repeated Declarations of Victory
प्रविवेश गृहं राज्ञो धृतराष्ट्रस्य धीमत: । ददर्श तत्र गान्धारीं देवीं पतिमनुव्रताम्
praviveśa gṛhaṃ rājño dhṛtarāṣṭrasya dhīmataḥ | dadarśa tatra gāndhārīṃ devīṃ patimanuvratām ||
قال فايشَمبايانا: دخل إلى دار الملك الحكيم دْهْرِتَراشْتْرَة. وهناك أبصر الملكة غاندھاري—سيدةً نبيلةً ثابتةً على نذر الوفاء، ملازمةً لزوجها بإخلاص—صورةً لدَهرما الزوجة في بيت المُلك.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical ideal of steadfast marital fidelity (pativratā-dharma) embodied by Gāndhārī, presenting devotion and self-discipline within the household as a form of dharma even amid political turmoil.
The narrator reports that the arriving figure enters King Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s residence and sees Queen Gāndhārī there, described with honorifics and as devotedly following her husband.
