Decision on the Highest Honor at the Assembly
सा वेदिदवेंदसम्पन्नैदेवद्धिजमहर्षिभि: । आबभासे समाकीर्णा नक्षत्रैद्यौरिवायता
sā vedī dvija-veda-sampannair deva-dvija-maharṣibhiḥ | ābabhāse samākīrṇā nakṣatrair dyaur ivāyatā ||
قال فايشامبايانا: إنَّ مِذبحَ القربان ذاك، وقد احتشد حوله حكماءُ البراهمة العارفون بالڤيدا—من الدِّيفارِشي والبراهْمَرِشي والماهارِشي—كان يسطع بهاءً، كما يلمع الفضاءُ الواسع إذا تزيَّن بعناقيد النجوم.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights that sacred actions and public ceremonies gain ethical weight and legitimacy when guided by disciplined, Veda-knowing sages; learning and spiritual authority are portrayed as the true adornment of ritual space.
Vaiśampāyana describes a ritual setting in the royal context: the altar is crowded with various classes of revered seers, and their presence makes it shine—compared poetically to the star-filled expanse of the night sky.
