Jarāsandha’s fall, liberation of kings, and request for support
अस्मांस्तदेनो गच्छेद्धि कृत॑ बार्हद्रथ त्वया । वयं हि शक्ता धर्मस्य रक्षणे धर्मचारिण:
asmāṁs tad eno gacched dhi kṛtaṁ bārhadratha tvayā | vayaṁ hi śaktā dharmasya rakṣaṇe dharmacāriṇaḥ, bṛhadrathakumāra |
يا ابنَ بْرِهَدْرَثا، إنّ إثمَ هذا الفعل الذي ترتكبه سيقع علينا نحن أيضًا حقًّا. فنحن قادرون على صون الدارما، ونحن ممن يسيرون على نهج الدارما؛ لذلك لا نستطيع أن نقف متفرّجين والباطل يُرتكب أمام أعيننا.
श्रीकृष्ण उवाच
Those who have the power and duty to uphold dharma share moral responsibility if they allow wrongdoing to occur; inaction can make the righteous complicit in another’s sin.
Kṛṣṇa addresses a prince of the Bṛhadratha line, warning that the wrongful act the prince is about to commit will implicate others present as well, because they are obligated and able to protect dharma and cannot permit adharma to proceed unchecked.
