Samrāt-Lakṣaṇa and the Counsel to Check Jarāsandha (सम्राट्-लक्षणं जरासन्ध-प्रतिबाधा-परामर्शः)

śrīkṛṣṇa uvāca | sarvair guṇair mahārāja rājasūyaṃ tvam arhasi | jānatas tv eva te sarvaṃ kiñcid vakṣyāmi bhārata ||
قال شري كريشنا: «أيها الملك العظيم، إنك تتحلّى بكل الخصال النبيلة؛ ولذلك فأنت جدير بإقامة قربان الرّاجاسويا (Rājasūya). يا بهاراتا، وإن كنت تعلم هذا كلَّه، فلأنك سألتَ فسأذكر شيئًا آخر في هذا الشأن».
श्रीकृष्ण उवाच
Kṛṣṇa grounds royal ambition in ethical qualification: sovereignty and great rites like the Rājasūya are justified only when the king is endowed with virtues (guṇa) and acts in accordance with dharma; power is presented as legitimate when supported by character.
In the context of planning Yudhiṣṭhira’s Rājasūya, Kṛṣṇa addresses him respectfully, affirms his fitness to perform the imperial sacrifice, and then agrees to explain further details—despite Yudhiṣṭhira already being knowledgeable—because he has asked for counsel.
