वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even the greatest martial power depends on conditions—weapons, strength, and resources. When these supports are lost, prowess collapses, underscoring the fragility of worldly power and the inevitability of decline.
The narrator lists the practical causes of helplessness in battle: the loss of special weapons, the waning of physical strength, a bow that no longer functions as intended, and the depletion of arrows—signs that the fighters’ capacity to continue has ended.
