Shloka 42

हत॑ श्रुत्वा नरव्यात्रं राथेयमतिमानिनम्‌ । निराशोड्द्य दुरात्मासौ धार्तराष्ट्रो भविष्यति,“आज दुरात्मा धृतराष्ट्रपुत्र दुर्योधन अत्यन्त अभिमानी नरव्याप्र राधापुत्र कर्णके मारे जानेका वृत्तान्त सुनकर राज्य और जीवनसे भी निराश हो जायगा। पुरुषोत्तम! आपकी कृपासे रणभूमिमें राधापुत्र कर्णके मारे जानेपर हम सब लोग कृतार्थ हो गये

hataṃ śrutvā naravyāghraṃ rādheyam atimāninam | nirāśo ’dya durātmāsau dhārtarāṣṭro bhaviṣyati ||

«حين يسمع أن رادهيَة—أسدٌ بين الرجال، وإن كان منتفخًا بالكِبر—قد قُتل، فإن ذلك الابن الخبيث لدهرتراشترا سيقع اليوم في يأسٍ مطبق.»
