The verse underscores the terrifying scale of war: skill and power can overwhelm the world around them, yet such prowess is ethically weighty because it is directed toward harming living bodies. It invites reflection on the cost of kṣatriya warfare and the gravity of violence even when performed as duty.
Sañjaya describes a moment in the battle when a warrior’s arrows—straight-flying and gold-fletched—are released in such numbers that they seem to fill the entire sky, and they are portrayed as capable of ripping through the enemies’ bodies.
