The verse highlights how war magnifies human passions—wrath, rivalry, and pride—into a terrifying collective force. Even when framed as kṣatriya duty, such combat reveals the ethical strain of violence: the battlefield becomes a place where dharma is tested under the pressure of rage and destruction.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that the confrontation between Karṇa and the Pāṇḍavas has intensified into a dreadful, roaring clash. It signals a peak of ferocity in the ongoing battle, emphasizing the scale and terror of their engagement.
