एते चान्ये च राजेन्द्र प्रवीरा जयगृद्धिन: । अभ्यर्दयन् महेष्वासं सूतपुत्रं महामृथे,राजेन्द्र विजयकी अभिलाषा रखनेवाले इन प्रमुख वीरों तथा दूसरोंने भी उस महासमरमें महाधनुर्धर सूतपुत्र कर्णको बाणोंद्वारा पीड़ित कर दिया
ete cānye ca rājendra pravīrā jayagṛddhinaḥ | abhyardayan maheṣvāsaṃ sūtaputraṃ mahāmṛdhe ||
قال سنجيا: «أيها الملك، إن هؤلاء الأبطال المتقدمين—وغيرهم أيضاً—وقد استبدّت بهم شهوة الظفر، هاجموا الرامي العظيم كارنا، ابن السائق، وفي ذلك القتال الفسيح آلموه بوابلٍ من السهام.»
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how the desire for victory (jayagṛddhi) drives even great heroes to concentrate force against a single formidable opponent. It implicitly raises the ethical tension in war: prowess and duty operate alongside ambition, and suffering is produced by collective martial pressure.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that many leading warriors, along with others, converge upon Karṇa in the great battle and wound/harass him with showers of arrows, emphasizing the intensity of the assault on the renowned archer.
