Educational Q&A

A solemn vow (samaya) carries ethical and practical consequences; even powerful leaders can be shaken when they realize a pledge has set unavoidable events in motion, revealing how inner fear and attachment can undermine resolve.

After hearing a decisive pledge made in the surrounding episode, Duryodhana becomes visibly downcast and inwardly troubled, turning to anxious contemplation about what that vow will mean for the unfolding battle.
