नक्षत्राणामिव शशी दितिजानामिवोशना: । श्रेष्ठ: सेनाप्रणेतृणां स नः सेनापतिर्भव
nakṣatrāṇām iva śaśī ditijānām ivośanāḥ | śreṣṭhaḥ senāpraṇetṝṇāṃ sa naḥ senāpatir bhava
قال دُريودَهَنَ: «كما يَفوقُ القمرُ النجومَ، وكما يتقدّم أُشَنا (شُكرا) الدَّيْتْيَةَ، كذلك أنتَ خيرُ القادة. فكنْ لنا القائدَ الأعلى.» وفي مناخ الحرب الأخلاقي تكشف هذه العبارة اعتمادَ دُريودَهَنَ على الهيبة والبأس؛ إذ يطلب الشرعيةَ والنصرَ بزعيمٍ ذي مكانة، لا بسلوكٍ قويم.
