Omens and Consolation after Loss; Reaffirmation of the Saindhava Punishment Vow

mṛtyus tveṣāṃ vyādhayas tatprasūtā vyādhī rogo rujyate yena jantuḥ | sarveṣāṃ ca prāṇināṃ prāyaṇānte tasmāc chokaṃ mā kṛthā niṣphalaṃ tvam ||

Educational Q&A

Death is the natural end of embodied life, and suffering and disease are inseparable from mortal existence; therefore one should restrain futile grief and respond with steadiness and discernment.

Nārada addresses a grieving king, explaining that mortality is universal and that lamentation cannot alter the ordained end of life; he urges the ruler to abandon unproductive sorrow.
