Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharmic deliberation under pressure: even in war, a righteous leader must think carefully about means and consequences—especially when confronting a revered elder and teacher—balancing protection of one’s people with respect and moral restraint.

Sañjaya reports that Yudhiṣṭhira sees Droṇa advancing in anger and repeatedly considers practical ways to stop or restrain him, indicating both the immediate battlefield danger and the ethical complexity of opposing one’s own preceptor.
