तस्यास्यतस्तान् निशितान् पीतधारान् द्रौणे: शरान् पृष्ठतश्नाग्रतश्न । धरा वियद् द्यौ: प्रदिशो दिशश्न च्छन्ना बाणैरभवन् घोररूपै:,द्रोणकुमार उन पानीदार धारवाले तीखे बाणोंको आगे और पीछे भी चला रहा था। उसके उन भयानक बाणोंसे पृथिवी, आकाश, अन्तरिक्ष, दिशाएँ और विदिशाएँ भी आच्छादित हो गयी थीं
tasyāsyatastān niśitān pītadhārān drauṇeḥ śarān pṛṣṭhataś cāgrataś ca | dharā viyad dyauḥ pradiśo diśaś ca channā bāṇair abhavan ghorarūpaiḥ ||
قال سانجايا: بينما كان ابن درونا (أشڤاتّھاما) يواصل إطلاق سهامه الحادّة ذات العروق الصفراء، إلى الأمام وإلى الخلف معًا، غدت الأرض والسماء والفضاء الأوسط، وسائر الجهات والجهات الفرعية، مغطّاة بتلك النصال المروّعة، حتى كأنّ المكان نفسه قد اكتسى حجابًا من العنف.
