Educational Q&A

A mind driven by harshness and unethical intention tends to suspect everyone, even well-wishers; such suspicion distorts how one receives and gives counsel, undermining true welfare (śreyas/hita).

Sañjaya comments critically on the addressee’s disposition: despite the presence of noble well-wishers devoted to his benefit, the addressee wants to speak (or press) various pointed remarks, arising from persistent distrust.
