As a chapter-ending colophon, it highlights a key ethical lens of the epic: war is not only a contest of valor but also a test of restraint and righteousness, and in night fighting especially, fatigue and sleep can erode vigilance and amplify morally fraught actions.
This line marks the conclusion of the 184th chapter within Droṇa Parva’s Droṇavadha section, situating the events during the night-battle and indicating that the chapter’s focus concerns the army’s sleep or slumber at that time.
