sa bādhyamānaḥ samare drauṇinā yuddha-durmadaḥ
The verse highlights how war-frenzy and pride (durmada) can cloud judgment; even a powerful warrior becomes vulnerable when driven by arrogance rather than disciplined dharma.
Sañjaya reports that a warrior (contextually identified in surrounding verses) is being forcefully checked in combat by Drauṇi (Aśvatthāman), indicating a turning point where the opponent gains the upper hand.
