यावत् त्वां निशितैर्बाणै: प्रेषयामि यमक्षयम् । 'धृष्टद्युम्न! स्थिर होकर दो घड़ी और प्रतीक्षा कर लो” तबतक मैं तुम्हें अपने पैने बाणोंद्वारा यमलोक भेज देता हूँ!
yāvat tvāṃ niśitair bāṇaiḥ preṣayāmi yamakṣayam | dhṛṣṭadyumna sthiraḥ bhūtvā dve ghaṭike ca pratīkṣasva ||
قال سانجيا: «يا دِهْرِشْتَديومْنا، اثبتْ وانتظر غَطِيكَتَيْن (برهةً يسيرة). وقبل انقضائهما سأبعثك بسهامي الحادّة كالموسى إلى مملكة يَما التي لا تفنى!»
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the battlefield mindset where death is treated as imminent and certain; it reflects the hard, uncompromising resolve of warriors and the ethical tension of dharma under the pressure of war—steadfastness is demanded even as violence is openly vowed.
Sañjaya reports a warrior’s taunt/threat addressed to Dhṛṣṭadyumna: he is told to stand firm and wait briefly, after which the speaker claims he will kill him with sharp arrows, sending him to Yama’s realm.
