Educational Q&A

The verse highlights steadfast resolve grounded in duty: one consciously abandons fear and attachment to personal survival, then acts with full effort for a chosen cause. Ethically, it underscores accountability—entering war is not impulsive but a deliberate commitment, framed as loyalty and kṣatriya-like determination.

Sañjaya reports a warrior’s declaration to a Kuru prince: he is going to the battlefield, ready to fight and confident of victory, naming allied forces—Pāñcālas, Somakas, and Kekayas—who will fight together in the ongoing Kurukṣetra conflict.
