sañjaya uvāca | dyaur ivāsīt sanakṣatrā rajanyāṃ bharatarṣabha | maṇi-svarṇa-vibhūṣitā sā kaurava-senā nakṣatra-yuktam ākāśam iva suśobhitā || gomāyu-bala-saṃghuṣṭā śakti-dhvaja-samākulā ||
قال سنجيا: يا ثورَ آلِ بهاراتا، في تلك الليلة كان جيشُ الكورافا—مُزَيَّنًا بالجواهر وحُلِيِّ الذهب—يلمع كسماءٍ مُرصَّعةٍ بالنجوم. وكان يدوّي بعُواءِ بناتِ آوى وبجَلَبةِ الجموع، مكتظًّا بالرماح والرايات—بهاءٌ مشؤومٌ يُبهِرُ البصرَ ويُطوِّقُ في الوقتِ نفسه ظلمةَ الحربِ الأخلاقية.
