भल्लाभ्यां पाण्डवो ज्येष्ठस्त्रिधा चिच्छेद मारिष | माननीय नरेश! ज्येष्ठ पाण्डव युधिष्ठिरने दो भल्ल मारकर शत्रुओंके संहारमें लगे हुए दुर्योधनके सुवर्णमय पृष्ठवाले विशाल धनुषके तीन टुकड़े कर डाले
bhallābhyāṃ pāṇḍavo jyeṣṭhas tridhā ciccheda māriṣa |
قال سانجيا: أيها الملك الموقر! إن يودهيشثيرا، أكبر أبناء الباندافا، أطلق سهمين من نوع بهلّا (bhalla) فقطّع قوس دوريودhana العظيم—ذا الظهر المذهّب، المرفوع لإهلاك الأعداء—إلى ثلاث قطع.
संजय उवाच
Even amid righteous warfare, the text highlights a restraint-oriented tactic: disabling the opponent’s weapon rather than focusing solely on bodily harm. The episode frames martial excellence as compatible with limiting further violence when possible.
Sañjaya reports that Yudhiṣṭhira, using two broad-headed arrows, slices Duryodhana’s large, gold-adorned bow into three pieces while Duryodhana is engaged in killing enemies—thereby disarming him in the midst of battle.
