Adhyāya 140: Rātriyuddhe Droṇa-prāpti-prayatnaḥ

Night engagement and the attempt to reach Droṇa

sañjaya uvāca | āsīd bhīmasahāyasya raudram ādhirather gatam |

Educational Q&A

Power in conflict is not only personal; it is amplified by support and conditions. Like wind feeding fire, alliances and enabling circumstances can intensify destructive force, so ethical responsibility includes how one empowers others in war.

Sañjaya describes the battlefield momentum: Karṇa’s terrifying advance grows stronger when he has Bhīma as a supporting factor, illustrated through the simile of wind accelerating fire through dry forest and grass.
