The verse highlights the ethical tension of war: obedience to command and tactical necessity propel action even when it leads directly into mass killing. It invites reflection on how dharma becomes strained in battlefield contexts, where duty and compassion collide.
Sañjaya reports an urgent command to the charioteer to drive toward Droṇa’s position. Droṇa is described as standing where he has been posted, armored and actively cutting down the Kekaya forces and the Pañcāla host, indicating his dominance in that sector of the battle.
