Adhyāya 113: Karṇa–Bhīma Śaravarṣa and the Battlefield Aftermath (कर्णभीमशरवर्षः)
grahaṇe dharmarājasya bhāradvājo 'pi gṛdhyati | śaktaś cāpi raṇe droṇo nigrahītuṃ yudhiṣṭhiram ||
The verse highlights the ethical tension of war: even a revered teacher-warrior like Droṇa can become intent on capturing the embodiment of dharma (Yudhiṣṭhira). It underscores how strategic aims and martial capability can press against moral ideals in the battlefield setting.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Droṇa is keen to seize Yudhiṣṭhira and has the strength and skill to subdue him in combat—signaling a tactical objective of the Kaurava side to capture the Pāṇḍava king.
