Droṇa-parva 112: Karṇa–Bhīma Engagement and Duryodhana’s Protective Order
तत्र देवा: सगन्धर्वा: पितरश्नाब्रुवन् नृप । एते द्रवन्ति पठचाला: पाण्डवाक्ष ससैनिका:,नरेश्वरर उस समय वहाँ आकाशमें खड़े हुए देवता, पितर और गन्धर्व कहते थे, ये पांचाल और पाण्डव अपने सैनिकोंके साथ भागे जा रहे हैं
tatra devāḥ sagandharvāḥ pitaraś cābruvan nṛpa | ete dravanti pañcālāḥ pāṇḍavāś ca sasainikāḥ ||
قال سانجيا: هناك، أيها الملك، إن الآلهة—ومعهم الغندرفا والآباء (الپِتْر)—وهم قائمون في السماء، أعلنوا: «إن هؤلاء البانچالا وأبناء پاندو، مع جيوشهم، يفرّون.»
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the idea of divine and ancestral witness over human conflict: even battlefield movements like retreat are observed and interpreted by higher beings, reminding the listener that war is not merely political but also morally and cosmically consequential.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that celestial beings—Devas, Gandharvas, and Pitṛs—standing in the sky, are proclaiming that the Pañcālas and the Pāṇḍavas, along with their forces, are running away (retreating) at that moment.
