Abhimanyu’s assault; Alambusa’s counter-engagement
sañjaya uvāca | parivṛttaṃ mahārāja parityajya ghaṭotkacam | tataḥ pravavṛte yuddhaṃ tatra teṣāṃ mahātmanām ||
The verse underscores the volatility of war: alliances and tactical focus can shift suddenly, and even mighty figures may be left behind as the larger conflict presses forward. Ethically, it hints at the impersonal momentum of battle, where strategic necessity can override personal ties.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that the warriors, having turned away and left Ghaṭotkaca behind, re-engage so that the fighting resumes or intensifies among the leading champions at that spot.
