भीष्मपर्व — अध्याय ६२: वासुदेवमहात्म्यप्रशंसा (देव–ब्रह्मसंवादः)
एवमुक्ते तु भीष्मेण पुत्रास्तव जनेश्वर । दध्मु: शड्खान् मुदा युक्ता भेरी: संजध्निरे भूशम्,जनेश्वर! भीष्मके ऐसा कहनेपर आपके पुत्र आनन्दमग्न होकर जोर-जोरसे शंख बजाने और डंका पीटने लगे
sañjaya uvāca | evam ukte tu bhīṣmeṇa putrās tava janeśvara | dadhmuḥ śaṅkhān mudā yuktā bherīḥ sañjaghnire bhūśam ||
قال سنجيا: فلما قال بهيشما ذلك، يا سيد الرجال، ابتهج أبناؤك فنفخوا في الصدَف وضربوا طبول الحرب ضربًا شديدًا.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how collective excitement and pride can quickly escalate toward conflict: the Kauravas respond to Bhishma’s words not with ethical restraint but with celebratory war-signals, illustrating the psychological momentum that drives societies into violence.
After Bhishma speaks, Dhritarashtra’s sons (the Kauravas) rejoice and loudly sound conches and beat war-drums, signaling readiness for battle and boosting morale on their side.
